Health Industry Claims and Payments Service (HICAPS):

HICAPS is an electronic system for on-the-spot health insurance claims.
Allows patients to claim rebates directly at the time of their dental appointment.
Reduces out-of-pocket costs by processing health fund rebates immediately.
Patients only pay the remaining balance after the rebate is applied.
Accepted by most dental practices, streamlining the payment process.

Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS):

Eligibility: The CDBS is available to children aged 2 to 17 who are part of a family receiving certain government benefits, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A or other relevant payments.
Coverage: It provides financial assistance for a range of basic dental services, including:
- Preventative care (check-ups, cleaning, and fluoride treatments).
- Minor treatments (fillings, extractions, and X-rays).
- Other basic dental services, depending on the child’s needs.
Limit: The CDBS provides up to $1,013 in benefits over a two-year period. This amount covers all eligible dental services provided during that time frame.
No Out-of-Pocket Costs: If the dental practice bulk-bills, there are no out-of-pocket expenses for eligible services under the CDBS, reducing the cost burden for families.
Accessing Benefits: To use the CDBS, parents or guardians need to ensure their child is eligible through Medicare, and they must visit a participating dentist who can claim directly through Medicare
